Artists, Designers, Makers, Unite for Michigan healthcare workers through Artists & Allies

Across the globe, people are searching for ways to provide meaningful aid during the COVID-19 pandemic. Artists and Allies is a group of artists, designers, and makers who’ve banded together to put our materials expertise into practice, creating facemasks, face shields, and other personal protective equipment items for front-line workers.
Current efforts aim to provide assistance to Michigan, New York, Hong Kong, London, and Mainland China. The group is currently working to provide support to Detroit-area healthcare workers. Michigan has the 3rd highest number of cases in the US and expects a surge in the next 2-3 weeks.

Hands

Coordinating

Artists and Allies is seeking volunteers to assist with coordination efforts on the following fronts:
  1. Coordinate with health care organizations in the Detroit metro area that need supplies.
  2. Help with supply chain management between US and China (right now we are relying on a team of private Chinese individuals who are placing our mask orders, we’d love a business to help us ramp up our orders).
  3. Source the plastic shield materials.
  4. Coordinate the assembly of the plastic shield materials among Artists and Allies members; once the armatures are delivered, we need to fit the shields as fast as possible.
Call to action: If you can lend a hand in any of these ways, please express your interest using the form linked below.

Crowdfunding

Artists and Allies would like to continue this work via the crowdsourcing for 1000+ face shield armatures, N95, and KN95 masks for distribution to Detroit area hospitals. The more money we raise the more PPE we will buy. No money raised will be used for anything other than the purchase and shipping of PPE.

Call to action: volunteers fluent in GoFundMe campaigns are invited to indicate their interest using the form linked below.
Duties may include: graphic design, monitoring, update posting, and other communications efforts.
